Over 200,000 Affected by Adverse Weather in Sri Lanka

Colombo: Severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides, have left over 207,000 people from 17 districts across Sri Lanka grappling with the aftermath of nature’s fury. As of this morning, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reports that 59,629 families have been impacted, with 10,137 individuals currently displaced and seeking refuge in 104 safety shelters.

Casualties and Injuries

Tragically, the extreme weather has claimed one life, while eight others have been injured in weather-related incidents. Authorities are working tirelessly to prevent further loss of life as the adverse conditions persist.

Relief Efforts in Full Swing

Emergency response teams from the DMC, Sri Lanka Police, and Navy are actively assisting affected communities:
